  What is SharePoint?

SharePoint is an enterprise information portal developed by Microsoft that can be configured to run Intranets, Extranets and Internet sites. SharePoint makes it easy to connect employees, teams, customers, suppliers and stakeholders together and  facilitates document related work.

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server is a collaboration portal, built on top of WSS 3.0. Unlike WSS, MOSS 2007 is not free and requires an additional license. MOSS 2007 comes in two versions - Standard and Enterprise. The major components of MOSS 2007 are collaboration portals, enterprise search, enterprise content management, business processes and forms, as well as business intelligence.

Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

Windows SharePoint Services is the platform on which all SharePoint products and technologies are built. WSS 3.0 is perfect for small teams, projects and organizations. WSS 3.0s functionalities for project collaboration, document workspaces, and discussion forums  allow  employees and teams to collaborate and share information online.
The previous version of WSS 3.0 was called Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 and before, SharePoint Team Services.
